Figures from the Trussell Trust, show that the city’s 4 foodbanks gave out 10,499 food parcels between April 1st 2021 to March 31st this year.
- In the final year of the Labour government in 2009/10, Britain’s foodbank network had 57 outlets open.
- In February 2021, there were 2200 food banks in the UK! (Source)
- This means there are now more foodbanks than McDonald’s restaurants (1300) in Britain!
- REMEMBER – On 1st April 2022, MPs got a £2,200 pay rise!

What do I think?
I think the people behind foodbanks are hugely undervalued, but conversely, I wish that they had no reason to do it!
Sadly, over the last decade, our society has become divided and deprived by the Government and senior politicians.
As a result, more and more people are now finding themselves reliant upon foodbanks in our city.
I can only hope that sooner, rather than later, the people stand up for themselves on such matters, as you cannot simply rely upon elected individuals to resolve such issues, and you must take responsibility and proudly say, “enough is enough!“
