In a recent article, present leader of Peterborough City Council, Wayne Fitzgerald, has claimed selling St George’s Hydrotherapy Pool site for “development” would reduce costs and increase the premium received, this after previously spending a year or so, negotiating to sell the site to a physiotherapist!?
But now, Cllr Shaz Nawaz, leader of the Labour group on the Council, has suggested this claim is not true.

And previously ….
Speaking previously, Cllr Nawaz told local media, that the physiotherapist who was set to take over, had planned to spend “… £90K on improving the facility, [was] paying a six-figure-sum to take over the pool,” and had “… spent £12K on costs,” having already “… employed two staff members to support the pool and patients,” and had given a guarantee that the the facility would provide “… 20 hours per week for community use.”
And before the local elections this year, Mr Nawaz, publicly promised to maintain the facility, if he became Council leader. Sadly, the results were not so prosperous as the local Labour Party would have liked. However, there is, in theory, still a chance of Cllr Shaz Nawaz becoming council leader.
